Porcelain Crowns

Trusted Dentists For Porcelain Crowns in Vancouver, WA

Porcelain dental crowns (also referred to as a cap) are a great way to protect teeth and restore function and strength to your tooth or teeth. A dental crown is a fixed prosthetic object that is cemented onto your natural tooth structure. Porcelain crowns are used to restore a tooth that is too damaged or decayed for other treatment options like fillings or bondings. Your dentist may need to remove more of your tooth structure and a porcelain crown provides the strength and durability to restore your smile.

Porcelain crowns provide a durable solution to a damaged tooth or teeth.

The primary purpose of a crown is to cover a damaged tooth or teeth. Crowns also strengthen the tooth and can improve overall appearance and alignment in the mouth. Porcelain crowns are highly resistant to wear and can last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. You will be able to eat, chew, and speak just as you would with your natural tooth. The porcelain crown will look and feel natural.

THE PROCESS

During your first treatment appointment, your dentist will clean your enamel, remove the damaged parts of your tooth, and shape the remaining tooth structure so it will securely hold the crown. Next, your dentist will create a mold of your tooth and send it to our dental lab to make your custom crown. After taking your tooth impression, your dentist will affix a temporary crown while your custom crown is being created. Once we have the crown at our office, we’ll schedule your next appointment. This is when your dentist will remove your temporary crown, then permanently secure your custom crown to your tooth with strong bonding material.
